Spider-Man opened to approximately $113 million in early May, but another film that opened the same day slipped through relatively unnoticed, and unfortunately for Deuces Wild, covert operations in Hollywood are not a good thing. Deuces Wild is a boring yet relatively harmless gang war movie set in 1958 Brooklyn that stars a fairly well known cast, such as Stephen Dorff, Matt Dillon, James Franco (who is also in Spider-Man, by the way), Brad Renfro, and Fairuza Balk. When drugs start to reemerge on a street that has been kept clean by a neighborhood gang called the Deuces for three years, a gang war ensues. Love, loyalty, and honor are put to the test. The word of the hour is 'normal.' Deuces Wild isn't awful or wonderful; it's just normal. The acting isn't bad or good; it's just normal. The story is just normal. The pace is normal. If looking for something to watch on a Friday night, there are a lot of better movies than Deuces Wild to see.
